Impact
First called GoNative, Median’s innovative solution established it as an industry leader. Its suite was quickly harnessed from developers and agencies to fast-growing startups and Fortune 500 companies like Whole Foods, Unilever, and Fitbit.
Services
While Capicua’s work started with the UX/UI design of GoNative’s web application, the partnership grew to enclose the rebranding process from GoNative to Median. This procedure included design, development, implementation, and collateral materials.
Goal
Median’s first goal was to improve the User Interface and User Experience Design of its main application to develop web-based native applications, considering information architecture, content hierarchies, and layout harmonies.
Story
Launched in early 2014 as GoNative.io, Median works under the mission of solving, simplifying, and supporting hybrid web and native mobile app development. Currently, Median allows users and companies to launch feature-rich web and native applications based on existing web content.
A key differentiating factor is that, while it allows non-developers to build ready-to-launch, web-based applications for both Android and iOS stores, it also supports more tech-based features, such as JavaScript —and JS frameworks like Vue and React— development within web environments for dynamic product control.
Likewise, its suite goes beyond the currently displayed web content and allows businesses to harness app-specific capabilities such as push notifications, as well as access to native device hardware and advanced functionality. The company also offers dedicated support regarding app publications and app store approval, including releases and updates on both iOS and Android devices.
Challenges
In the first stages, our main challenge was to easily align Median’s innovative solution with intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces and experiences for its products. Once the project scope shifted and rebranding was on the table, the challenge turned into the need for a robust structure for all edges of the brand to be on their design materials.
Strategy
To thrive in our outcomes, we worked as a collaborative partner of Median’s team to ensure all their knowledge of their brand was accurately represented. The approach included the creation of a specialized team with expertise in a wide range of industries, from Operations and Design to Sales and Product.
In strategic terms, this process involved an in-depth maturity process to guarantee all its innovative elements were represented under a solid brand voice. As a result, the brand now offers strategic consistency across platforms and formats, constantly highlighting its technological and commercial value for users and companies.
Design
To showcase Median’s values, we iterated several proposals to guarantee coherence across applications. By building a solid Brand Book, we refined all concepts related to the brand and its mission and further applied its principles to specific materials.
This remarkable blend of strategic approach and design procedures allowed us to deliver an end-to-end brand experience on a myriad of applications that smoothly blended UX/UI Design, Web Design, and Web App Design. We further delivered collateral materials that included sales decks and marketing assets.
Technology
When starting, Median relied on custom React for its website. Yet, in search of simplicity and functionality, our team moved the site to a Webflow CMS-based structure to simplify processes and allow teams to focus on showcasing the product’s features.
