Since 2019, HostedScan has worked on easing vulnerability scanning and risk management for digital products, making them more accessible to more businesses.
Impact
With its security-based scans, HostedScan improves the operations of over a thousand companies, including Yamaha and the University of London’s Lincoln College.
Services
We started by redefining its web app’s UX, yet the scope expanded to a full rebranding and the UX UI Design and Product Development of its marketing site and collaterals.
Goal
HostedScan allows worldwide companies to run vulnerability scans on websites, servers, networks, and a myriad of other digital products and platforms.
Its main goal was to offer a robust ecosystem for businesses to harness monitoring, reporting, and compliance.
Story
Founded in 2019, HostedScan rose as an all-in-one solution for companies of all sizes to detect security misconfigurations and vulnerabilities to reduce liability and meet compliance requirements in use cases such as ISO 27001, GDPR, TPN, and SOC 2.
Among several features, HostedScan centralizes import targets from providers like Azure, AWS, Linoide, and DigitalOcean, as well as industry-standard scanners OpenVAS, NMAP, and OWASP ZAP.
Its main scope is for companies to be able to guarantee compliance regardless of aspects like industry or firm size.
Challenges
When diving into this project, our challenges were divided into two main areas.
On the one hand, we needed to harness the correct tech stack to guarantee smooth working for its innovative solution.
On the other hand, we ought to combine these with intuitive interfaces and thriving experiences.
We also faced challenges when building the company’s new identity. We needed to convey the idea that this was a safety-based, intuitive product all companies would be able to harness in order to improve their cybersecurity operations.
Strategy
For this project, we harnessed an iterative approach that involved close collaboration with the company to guarantee their brand voice was represented in all instances of their products.
The project not only needed to blend business-savvy and design areas but also consider development and implementation efforts.
With a strategic framework, we were able to allocate resources to achieve high-impact outcomes faster and smarter.
Design
Our team delved deep into HostedScan’s goal, mission, and vision to achieve a clean, consistent look and feel.
The iterative process, with extreme attention to detail, resulted in a full rebranding with a long, comprehensive styleguide.
This styleguide was key to further designing each specific element within its ecosystem, from its marketing site and collaterals, such as sales decks and social media ads, to the more technical web application.
Technology
Regarding tech stacks, we harnessed React’s strong architecture to achieve solid, fast, long-term and sustainable outcomes for both the marketing site and the web application.
